Last year, David Gomez was named Nominations Chair on the Board of Directors for the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Through its network of local Hispanic Chambers of Commerce and Hispanic business organizations, the USHCC effectively communicates the needs and potential of Hispanic enterprise to the public and private sector in several ways.
The first USHCC Board Retreat of 2012 was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico in late January. The Directors, USHCC Staff, Chairman, and President gathered to not only make important motions and amendments which will significantly affect the organization in a positive way, but also to hold an election to name the Chair-Elect who will take over the chairmanship in September 2012 when Madame Chair Nina Vaca’s term ends.
David Gomez was responsible for the entirety of the elections process including creating criteria, nominations process, candidate presentations, and election procedures.
Marc A. Rodriguez won the election 10-7 on Thursday, January 27th and will become the next Chairman of the Board of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in September.
Marc A. Rodriguez has worked on state legislative issues for the last nine consecutive state legislative sessions and has a professional history of representing entities with elected and appointed boards. Mr. Rodriguez has coordinated efforts with volunteers, private consultants, representatives of governmental agencies, elected officials and staff. As a professional advocate, Mr. Rodriguez has specific expertise to address public policy issues including utility regulation, infrastructure, urban affairs and natural resources. Clients also benefit from his role as a political advisor and strategist. He is presently the owner of a government relations consulting firm and President of TOPE Development, a real estate company.
